My parents have built and moved into a brand new house after living in the same house their entire married life until now. I am flying to Perth tomorrow and will finally see it. I really want to make things for the house but decided to not do too much until I see it. Mum told me she bought yellow bar stools so when I saw this fabric at the Sydney quilt show I knew I had to get it. I made these 2 place mats to take with me. I just used the fabric as it is perfect. I have nearly a metre of it so I can make some more things later.
I used black and white fat quarters I had for the back.

Modern Maples
I finally finished my falling Maples runner made using the tutorial on Larks Crafts. Simple straight line quilting because everything else I tried didn't work.

Another Mini for me
I loved this mini by Jeni Baker and I love Kate Spain so I decided to use her fabric to make a similar one for ME. I had a jelly roll which I have been saving but I have decided I am going to use it to make lots of fun projects. I modified this pattern so I could use a jelly roll. It finishes at 12 inches. Kate Spains new line Horizon is out in September and it looks fantastic so I am going to sew as much as possible before then so I can justify buying it. Sound like a plan!

Sydney Quilt Show
I went to the Sydney Quilt show on Wednesday. It was a good show although smaller than usual. I didn't buy a lot as I have so many things planned with the things I have.
I bought some aida so I can finally start the quilty stitches sampler along at Little Miss Shabbys blog.
Couldn't reist this emu cross stitch even though I have a million to do.
Had to buy fabric.
Another mini I must make.

A couple of cushions
I finished the cushion for my dad and the one for me using the Spring Quarter Quilt pattern by Teaginny designs. I made an envelope enclosure with a binding strip for them both. It is quick and easy and looks good.

Vice Versa BOM
I couldn't resist. I love the look of the blocks in the vice versa BOM at Gen X Quilters and had to join in.
It uses 5 different colours but I am thinking of using my fat quarter bundle of sunrise kona cotton. I think it should work.I am going to the quilt show in Sydney on Wednesday so will hold off making a decision till then.
I have taken photos of some of projects that have been on my blog recently with Daves camera to see if the colours look better.
Could not resist a photo of Rhani.

Paper piecing
I have been doing a little paper piecing. I decided to start easy with the 5 inch economy block from Red Pepper Quilts. I used a scrap of umbrella prints. I have no idea what to do with it but it is very cute.
Then I made a lego batman block which still needs the mouth embroidered and will become a cushion or placemat. This is free and one of many patterns from Quiet Play, a blog I follow. Kristy has so many great patterns availabe in her craftsy shop including freebies and BOMs.
Finally I made a 7 inch economy block from the Quilters Cache. This uses scraps from a quilt I made my dad and will be given to him for his birthday, hopefully with a something else I will come up with soon. He is very hard to buy for.
